Calling the Surrey & South East Crew

So im sitting here at my desk trying to pass the time doing as little as possible (nothing new there then) and been thinking about kiting clubs.

Well there seems to be a distinct lack of clubs / groups in my local area. I often bump into the same people when im out flying and say hi ect, but I would like something a bit more official.

If there was enough interest I would be up for organising one. I have plenty of free time in the days (at my company's expense lol) & I know a bit about about computers / web sites ect so that wouldn't be a problem.

At the moment I haven't given it much more thought than that. If there's no interest I wont bother but if there is then I am up for it.

Vote in the poll & drop some ideas into the thread if you have them.

I suppose the first idea has to be the name!

All the best

Definatly a good idea!

can we have a secret code book and a badge?

It'd be good to be able to contact people and arrange to meet up for a fly - and a beer after! - can't think of a name though

Should be fun... I come from Guildford and fly with two other people but we tend to go down to littlehampton to fly on the beach there.

go for it Dude !!!

sounds good to me !!!

may give us some ammo to try and open up some sites - say Epsom downs to allowing buggying / boarding again if there is a club (mind you if you do get a site don't you have to do the ol' risk assessments , insurance , BBC association, and so on) !!!

don't know if you got a copy of the latest (well last) power kite mag - they had an article on setting up a club and so on , and mentioned such things in there !!!

Lightbulb Kite Club in Surrey...

Not saying I'm bored at work, but....

Quote:

err...

Surrey Kite Club.
Surrey Kiters.
Surrey Sports, Power & Traction Kite and Board & Buggy Enthusiasts Promotion Group.
Surrey Kiters Club.
Kite Surrey.
Surrey AirForce.
Surrey WindSports.

er.. does it have to have Surrey in it?

...I'm sure someone can improve on some of these!

If nothing else, how about a mailing list so that when someone is going to the Downs or Richmond park they send a group Email saying "I'm going to the Park on Sunday 2:30 to 5:00" etc.

(I've got some reseller webspace so I dont mind hosting a list for nothing if that's what people want..)

Or Start a Surrey Kite Thread in the events section and get a list of posters to add to you PM listings.
